This Thursday, December 10, from 7:00-7:30pm, Prior Michael Brunner will host, on behalf of the monastery and school, the annual “Abbot’s Reception.” A longstanding tradition, the reception will take on an unprecedented “distance format,” being held virtually. While the reception has been consistently gathering at the New York Yacht Club, the program will be hosted on the ever more familiar confines of Zoom this time around. The spirit of the occasion remains celebratory, with participants even encouraged to wear “festive attire.” Highlighting the program will be a greeting from Headmaster Dan McDonough, a dramatic reading of “’Twas the Night Before Christmas” by recently retired faculty member Cliff Hobbins, and a blessing offered by Prior Michael. The virtual nature of this year’s virtual reception, taking on the character of so much of the year 2020, offers the silver lining of ease of access for participation for those who cannot travel. And as the School’s alumni page notes, “we are able to celebrate together while honoring the School’s commitment to thrive despite challenging times.” To register, click here.
